Sembuluh Lake Has Dried Up, Leaving a Cracked Surface
The bottom of Sembuluh Lake in Sembuluh II, Seruyan Regency, Central Kalimantan, appeared dry and cracked due to El Niño, which reduced rainfall and caused the lake’s water level to recede, on Tuesday (October 27, 2026). Thick fog also shrouded the area, signaling environmental conditions that warrant caution, particularly regarding the potential for wildfires and their impact on the activities of communities that depend on the lake.
