Fire Scars Destroy Forested Area Surrounded by Palm Oil Plantations
Traces of forest and land fires are visible in Lawang Uru Village, Banama Tingang Subdistrict, Pulang Pisau Regency, Central Kalimantan. The fire is believed to have occurred within the concession area of a palm oil plantation company. Based on Sentinel-2 satellite imagery from September 11, 2026, signs of a fire were detected at the location, specifically in a forested area surrounded by palm oil plantations. Field monitoring on November 3, 2026, showed that the fire was no longer visible. However, the area affected by the fire still appeared blackened, with a number of trees and vegetation that had died as a result of the fire. These conditions demonstrate the impact of the fire on the vegetation cover in the area. #Karhutla2026 #CentralKalimantan
